If you read our last post: Gospel-Centered Community, then you know how important it is to get plugged into Christian community. Every follower of Jesus needs friends that will encourage him, hold him accountable, and friends to have FUN with! We want you to get involved with Greek Impact community so you can meet like minded friends that love Jesus too. Here are some ways to get involved:
1. Go to ENCOUNTER.
Encounter 2011 is Campus Crusade for Christ's MidSouth winter conference in Greensboro, NC. It's a fun filled four days over winter break where you will encounter the living God with over 1,000 other students and staff from across the MidSouth region. Deepen your walk with God through daily corporate worship music, inspiring messages by special guests (including Marian Jordan for you ladies), breakout sessions and a day of faith in the local community. For more info contact Joel, Kitty, or Shelley and check out the Facebook group: Encounter 2011
2. GO TO PASSION.
The Passion conference has been described as "Woodstock for Christians, plus Jesus, minus the illegal activities." Passion is a generation united to make Jesus' name famous amongst the nations. January 2-5th over 22,000 young people aged 18 to 25 will unite in Atlanta, Georgia to worship our God together. There will be famous preachers, like Louie Giglio, Francis Chan, Beth Moore, and John Piper. Along with some awesome Christian artists like Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Hillsong, and Gungor. A typical day at Passion involves spending time in a community group discussing what you're learning, a morning and evening worship session, an afternoon "breakout" session of your choice, and a late night concert! Passion is a ton of fun! For more details check out the Passion 2012 website. There is also a Facebook group called Gamecocks going to Passion. Check out the group to find out how to register and figure out who to room with.
3. MEET GREEK IMPACT FRIENDS NEAR YOU.
Let's face it, it only takes about a week of Christmas break before you're tired of hanging out with your high school friends, your family begins to drive you crazy, and boredom begins to set in. Thats why we want to stay connected over break! You can get together and have a Christmas break Bible study, find someone to go to church with, or just hangout with some awesome people! Just contact the person nearest you via FB.
